Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Dead Link Crawler (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a web tool that crawls websites and identifies broken links. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

2. Data We Collect

Account data

If you create an account, we store your email address and a hashed password (or, if you sign in with Google, a reference to your Google account). We use this solely to authenticate you and associate your saved scans with your account.

Scan data

When you run a crawl, we store the target URL, the list of links discovered, and their HTTP status codes. Authenticated users’ scans are stored in our database and linked to their account. Anonymous scans are stored temporarily in your browser’s local storage and are never sent to our servers unless you sign in and choose to sync them.

Usage data

We use Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics to collect anonymised information about how visitors use the site (pages visited, session duration, country). This data does not identify you personally.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and improve the crawling service.
  • To authenticate you and display your saved scans.
  • To send transactional emails (e.g. magic-link sign-in emails).
  • To understand aggregate usage patterns and fix bugs.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Data Storage & Security

Account and scan data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS). Row-level security policies ensure that users can only access their own data. We apply reasonable technical measures to protect data in transit and at rest, but no system is completely secure.

5. Cookies

We use cookies for authentication (session cookies set by Supabase) and analytics (Google Analytics, Vercel Analytics). You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may prevent login from working correctly.

6. Third-Party Services

The service integrates with the following third parties, each with their own privacy policies:

  • Google (Analytics, Sign-in)
  • Supabase (database & authentication)
  • Vercel (hosting & analytics)
  • Resend (transactional email)

7. Data Retention

Scan records for authenticated users are kept until you delete them or close your account. Anonymous scan data stored in your browser’s local storage is controlled entirely by you and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to restrict or object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
